Acadia University
Acadia is in tiny Wolfville, with a population just slightly higher than the number of students enrolled, half of whom live on campus. Acadia students spend less time commuting and more time community building ? the university offers a transcript to certify achievements outside the classroom in volunteering, leadership and professional development.

More than 250 students each semester participate in the Sensory Motor Instructional and Leadership Experience (SMILE) program that helps youths with disabilities participate in physical activities. They can also work on service projects through the Institute for Civic Engagement.

The 100-hectare campus site in the Annapolis Valley has ivy-covered walls and sloping lawns dotted with trees. A student-run farm supplies vegetables and herbs.

Scholarships

To encourage and recognise high scholastic achievement, Acadia University offers scholarships and awards to incoming students as well as scholarships, prizes, medals and awards to current students. Incoming students will automatically be considered for entrance scholarships, provided they meet the criteria.

Students who have been awarded a renewable scholarship may have the award extended up to four years, provided they meet the criteria. The university will consider renewal on an individual basis for those students who are graduating from a three-year program and plan to return for a fourth year of undergraduate study.

A minimum average of 80 per cent is required. For renewable scholarships, students must maintain an 80 per cent (or SGPA of 3.50) in their first year and 85 per cent (or SGPA of 3.67) in their second and subsequent years.
