English Language Centre

A part of the University of Victoria (UVic) and its Division of Continuing Studies, the English Language Centre has been offering intensive English programs at UVic since 1970, and is now one of the largest on-campus English schools in Canada. Each year, UVic English Language Centre welcome about 2,200 students from more than 30 countries to programs from one to three months in length. Many students study English at the centre for much longer, depending on their needs and goals.   

As experts in the field of English language training, UVic English Language Centre are focused on student success and student support. When you register for an ELC program, you can be confident that they have every detail of your program covered: classes, activities, accommodation and meals. The classes will build your English skills and the activities will help you feel at home in a new city and culture.   

Standout programs

Pathways Program

The UVic Pathways Program is an innovative 12-month program that allows international students to meet the English language requirements for the University of Victoria (UVic) while completing first-year credit courses in the Faculty of Science, Social Sciences or Engineering.

After completing the Pathways Program, students will be able to transit to UVic with almost a full year of credits (into the second year) and can begin working towards an undergraduate degree.

The Pathways Program is delivered by the UVic English Language Centre in collaboration with the Faculties of Science, Social Sciences and Engineering.
