The University of British Columbia
An undergraduate could feel overwhelmed at a school as big as The University of British Columbia, with its sprawling Point Grey campus and an international reputation for research and graduate programs. But it’s a challenge that the university is addressing – in an ongoing effort to create a more intimate learning environment, it is adding more student-centric learning spaces and engaging neighbouring municipalities as community partners. This follows moves in recent years to revamp undergraduate science education and ramp up programs such as service learning. The Okanagan campus has a smaller feel, with 8,300 undergraduates, but it continues to expand and enrolment has tripled since opening 12 years ago.

The University of British Columbia students are among the best in the world and are challenged by an outstanding faculty to reach their full potential while on campus. With about 300,000 alumni, graduates are active internationally, changing the world for the better.

Scholarships

International Major Entrance Scholarships (IMES) are awarded to exceptional international students entering undergraduate programs at the University of British Columbia. Students receive their IMES when they enter their first year, and the scholarships are renewable for up to three additional years of study. The number and level of these scholarships awarded each year vary, depending on available funding.

The Outstanding International Student (OIS) Award is a one-time, merit-based entrance scholarship awarded to qualified students when they are offered admission. Students selected for this award show strength academically and display involvement outside of the classroom.
